Niagara Falls turn to ice as the temperature drops.

This is what Niagara Falls Looks Like Frozen

A partially frozen American Falls in sub-freezing temperatures is seen in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
However, the falls haven't frozen over completely.  Water continues to gush below the ice's surface and through gaps in the ice. And partial freezing like this is actually pretty common, occurring most winters. Most of the ice results from water that's sprayed off the falls and lands on an "ice bridge" that's gradually forming across the falls' bottom.

On a few rare occasions, however, so much ice has formed that it actually choked off the flow of water. In 1848, for instance, a blockage of ice above the falls reportedly cut it down to a few trickles. Here's a photo, believed to be from 1909, when a similar event occurred:

Recently, a pair of Canadian adventurers — Sarah Hueniken and Will Gadd — became the first people to ever climb the partially frozen falls, using picks to hoist themselves up a narrow strip of ice along the edge.
"The power of the falls is staggering," Gadd told National Geographic. "It vibrates your intestines and makes you feel very, very small. I've never experienced anything like it."
Here's what the feat looked like:

TGI FRIDAYS valentines day rant (Rockford, IL)

TGI FRIDAYS valentines day rant

The unforgettable valentines day dinner we never want again, It started out a great night until we got to TGI Fridays and were subject to the great smell of the food coming from the inside of the building as we walked up to the door, the parking lot was full so naturally we expected a wait. we got to the door and the host ask for a name and how many and told us it will be about a 30 minute wait to be seated, we thought ok since the building was backed the waiting booths had no more room to sit we grabbed a seat at the end of the bar with our little buzzer to be paged, looked through the drink menu to start the night off with a drink. I ordered a Strawberry basil margarita sounds extravagant right well I received it with strawberry and lime garnish and basil leaves swirling around the cup. Now when you order a margarita at any of the big chains you expect a drink or at least a couple swallows of the liquid. Well the cup this margarita came in was like a child size cup and tasted like strawberry flavored water I assume because it was completely filled with crushed ice, basil leaves, strawberry's and a lime, yikes there's my fruit filling for the day! and at a whopping $9.99 price I shivered in fear of what the food was going to be like. My partners drink a SOCO hurricane as you can see pictured above came out looking like something that came from an old fountain that hasn't been flushed for awhile, there seemed to be some sort of cream added to this drink which looked spoiled in the bottom of the cup so we politely requested a new drink. still waiting to be seated along with the couple next to us that has about 15 more minutes of wait time invested in this place the host came around the corner not buzzing us but told us we were ready to be seated, my partner replied what about these two they were here before us and have been waiting, so we gave up our spot to them and let them sit first and waited a couple more minutes for another seat to open up. Finally we got to sit at a table look over the menu and then we noticed the valentines day special which was two for $50.00 entrĂ©es and appetizers  which wasn't a normal restaurant special obviously normally its 2 for 20 or something of that nature, so any ways we took the special started out with some pot stickers for the appetizer and when the pot stickers arrived and they had two plates we assumed this was due to the increased price of the food or just with the special day we were wrong the server accidently put two orders in and charged us an extra 8.99 or what ever the price was, first she came to the table and said you already have them and are eating them so just enjoy minutes later she returned with a repossession type of appeal "I have to take one of them back or we will have to charge you for both of them" we were like of take this one back then. so on to the real food  we both ordered the same thing a half slab of the jack Daniels ribs and a flat steak,  I had for my two sides two orders of mashed potatoes, and he had his rice and macaroni and cheese. Well the potatoes where over the edge salty, the ribs where tough (far from their claiming of the fall of the bone mouth watering taste) the macaroni and chesse looked like dried up noodles with some parmesan cheese sprinkled on it .]

Moral of this story is Yuck Fridays you just turned my valentines day into a Monday.......

Alabama Minister Arrested After Offering To Perform Same-Sex Wedding

Sheriffs have arrested an Alabama minister after she offered to officiate a wedding for a same-sex couple in a probate judge's office.

A same-sex couple who went to the Autauga County courthouse in Alabama to marry say an ordained minister who offered to officiate their wedding ceremony was arrested after refusing to leave the probate judge's office.
Courtney Cannon and Morgan Plunkett (photo), together three and a half years, say they received a marriage license from a "very nice" clerk.
They were surprised when the situation began to "blow up."
"I don't even know her name, but she said she was an ordained minister and wanted to marry us," Cannon told a Montgomery Advertiser reporter on camera. "She was standing up for our rights to get married. Judge Booth called the deputies after he told her to leave."
"Judge Booth said there was a lady in the office who wouldn't leave when he asked her to leave," Autauga County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Dave Hill said.
The reporter told them this particular county was not marrying people, which they say they did not know. It seems the judge, in addition to refusing to marry anyone, is refusing to allow anyone to marry in his office, regardless of who officiates. The Autauga County probate judge's office stopped performing all weddings on Friday, they say, due to workflow issues.
Anne Susan Diprizio was charged with disorderly conduct.
"I didn't think it would blow up like this," Courtney Cannon said. "We just wanted to get a marriage license. We weren't thinking of getting married in the probate office until she offered to perform the ceremony."
"I don't think she deserves to be arrested," Cannon added. "They say they have stopped all marriages at the probate office. But I guarantee if a heterosexual couple went in there they would marry them in a heartbeat."
